Biscuits are one of those recipes that can be hard to master. If using butter it has to be cold, the flour consistency has to be right and they have to be cut correctly so that they rise.
You won't have any of those issues with these Butter Swim Biscuits. You simply mix the ingredients, pour the batter into a dish with melted butter, spread the dough and cut it into squares and bake it, easy peasy.
So let's get into this recipe so I can show you how it's done!

Steps to make the biscuits:
Set the oven temperature to 450 F. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together. Using a fork or pastry cutter, combine the shortening into the mixture until it's fine and crumbly.
Next, add the buttermilk to the flour mixture and fold the ingredients together just until combined. Melt the butter and pour it into an 8x8-inch baking dish.
Add the biscuit dough to the pan and press to spread out the dough until it covers the bottom surface of the pan. Using a rubber spatula or similar, cut the dough into 9 squares.
Bake in the oven for approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and serve as desired.
