Ingredients needed for the Tuna Salad:
- Tuna (canned or packaged)
- Boiled eggs
- Gala apple
- Purple onion
- Celery
- Sweet relish
- Miracle whip
- Yellow mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps to make the Tuna Salad:
Drain tuna and add to a large bowl. Add chopped apple, celery, eggs, onion, relish, miracle whip, and mustard and mix.
Chill for at least one hour before serving. We used tuna in water for this recipe.
This is a great tuna choice for making tuna salad. Definitely make sure that you pick up the tuna in water vs. tuna in oil. It's light and therefore mixes well with the other ingredients.
Gala apples and purple onion were used to give the tuna added flavor and texture. Gala apples are in the red apple family.
If you do not have this type of apple in your area, a red apple or comparable will do! The touch of sweetness to the tuna gives it extra texture and flavor.
This tuna salad is great served with crackers or your favorite sandwich bread, preferably a sturdy bread since tuna is already soft.
Enjoy!
