Use a rubber spatula to smooth the top without pressing the batter down. Pressing removes air and can affect texture. - Check the fill level
Stop once the pan reaches about ⅔ full. If you have extra batter, bake it separately rather than overfilling. You can avoid having extra batter by using the appropriate size bundt pan for your recipe. A good rule of thumb is to have a standard 12 cup bundt pan which fits most pound cakes. For Mile High Pound Cakes, a 18 cup bundt pan is needed. - Tap the pan lightly

Thank you for this information. I generally leave the cake in the pan for 30 - 40 minutes to ensure that its cooled, but then I can never get it out of the pan whole. I will change my strategy to the 15-20 minutes.
