Quick and Easy Dirty Rice

Learn how to make authentic dirty rice with this quick and easy almost one-pan recipe! This recipe is packed with Cajun flavor, ground beef, and ground sausage, and plenty of spice!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground sausage
  • 3-4 c white rice - cooked
  • ½ c green bell pepper- diced
  • ½ c yellow onion- diced
  • 1 tablespoon creole seasoning
  • 2 tsps seasoned salt

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet to low-medium heat. Add the ground beef and sausage and break it up into small pieces.
  • While the meat is cooking, add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet.
  • Stir in the creole seasoning and seasoned salt. Cook until the meat is brown and the vegetables are tender.
  • Once the meat is brown, remove it from the skillet, drain the excess oil, and reserve.
  • Return the meat mixture to the skillet and add the cooked rice.
  • Return the oil to the pan and mix. Add the oil to taste and moisture. Add additional creole seasoning/seasoned salt if necessary.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

The oil from the meat adds flavor to this dish. Add additional oil back into pan as needed (after mixing the rice into the meat mixture) to moisten the rice and enhance the flavor of the dish. Add a little at a time until you reach the desired flavor and consistency.
